DIY Healing Salve Base

healing salve base

Do you like a salve base to rub your Essential Oils onto your skin? It’s quick & easy to make!

The beauty of the base recipe for Healing Salve is that you can add any combination of oils to it depending on what health issue you want to address. If you have itchy skin (bug bites, psoriasis, eczema or dermatitis?), you can add essential oils that will soothe your skin. If you have congestion or a cough, you can add respiratory oils to the salve base. It is sooooo versatile!  I like to use Lemon (antiseptic), Lavender (soothing for your skin) and Melaleuca (first aid for your skin) to the base for a soothing, anti-itch salve.

I usually pour this in 4 oz. canning jars and it fills about 3 1/2 of that size jar. It’s not an exact science, but to each 4 oz. jar, I would add 6-8 drops of each essential oil. For a more mild salve (for sensitive skin, children and the elderly), add less essential oils, maybe 3-4 drops each.
