Karma v. The Bible

Sow the Wind and Reap the Whirlwind

There is a principle in the Bible of “Sowing and Reaping”.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7

The same principle of “sowing & reaping” exists in Hinduism and Buddhism. In those false religions it is called “Karma”. The principle of Karma was copied from one of the principles of the Kingdom of God. Satan can do nothing original. He cannot CREATE because only God can speak His Word and cause something to appear from nothing. Satan is still trying to be *as God* and so, he produces twisted imitations of whatever God has in His Kingdom.

One of Satan’s imitations is “KARMA”.

Karma is the sanskrit word for “action” and implies cause and effect. Cause and effect is one of the laws of physics as well.

Of course, “Karma” devotees also believe in reincarnation. They believe we are born, live, die, born again, live, die, born again, live, die…and on and on and on endlessly.

So they believe how they live in this life determines how their “Karma” ends up. Live behaving nicely and you get a better life the next go-around. Live behaving badly and your next life is gonna be a doozy. They also do not believe Karma is  caused by a person – such as their *god* or one of their *gods* (and they have literally millions of gods). It is just an impersonal force to them, sort of like the laws of physics.

But what about in the Bible?

First of all, we do not live more than one life. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment…”  Hebrews 9:27.  Whatever you are going to do in life, you only have one chance. This is it – there is no second chance in any kind of “next life”. There is no such thing as reincarnation. You live ONCE and you have an appointment to die…ONCE.

When is your birthday? Everyone knows that one particular date!  You had an appointment to be born and you were! There is an appointed day for you to die…and then the judgement.

God is going to judge every deed and every action…   “But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger…” Romans 2:5-8

God is going to judge every idle word:  “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” Matthew 12:36.

…and then you will be rewarded or punished depending on if you “behaved well” (lived according to God’s Word) or “behaved badly” (lived your life in unrepentant sin).  “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him…”  Jude 1:14

So there is no such thing as an “impersonal force” named Karma, sending you on and on into the future living one life after the other, be it pleasant or be it wretched. There is only God, the Great I AM, the One True God, Whose Son is Jesus Christ. He is the One who will judge every deed and every action. “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.”  Romans 14:11,12

There is only one life… THIS ONE.

You will NOT live another life after this. If you die today, you will not be “born again” tomorrow into another body (human or animal or even a bug!!) to start all over again.

So the sowing and reaping that you do in this life affects you here and now and forever into eternity. God has designed our lives to include troubles and trials to purge us of our tendency to sin, live a self-seeking life and make bad decisions based on the dictates of our flesh. Our trials are as “fires” to burn out of us whatever needs to be burned out to teach us to sow GOOD. The burning & purging goes on NOW while we live in this vessel of clay and if we allow it to happen NOW, we will not have to face God at His judgement seat and be thrown into the Lake of Fire to have it burned out of us for all eternity.

You must be BORN-AGAIN in this life!

Recognizing that we ARE all going to stand before God and give an account of every deed, thought, word spoken, decision, etc., we must repent of our sin and accept the sacrifice of the ONE TRUE Perfect Life lived by Jesus Christ, the Son of . When we do, God then forgives our sin! This IS the true experience of being born-again, not the idea of continually lives one after the other such as the idea of reincarnation!

When our sins are forgiven, we are a New Creation!

We are TRULY born-again – SPIRITUALLY! “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

But having our sins forgiven does not stop the principle of sowing and reaping. If we go on to live our life “sowing good”, i.e., living according to God’s instructions in His Word, we will receive the blessing of what we have”sown”. If we act the opposite way, the opposite of blessing (which is “punishment & cursing”), that is what will come our way.  “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7

There is a REWARD!

Sowing to the Wind/Flesh = Reaping the Whirlwind/Chaos & Destruction

“For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.” Hosea 8:7

“For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.” Proverbs 24:20

“Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.” Isaiah 3:11

Sowing GOOD produces an even greater amount of blessing. Sowing EVIL produces an even greater amount of punishment. This applies to what we sow & reap in this life and what we sow & reap at our death. When you plant corn in the field, you reap corn. If you plant ragweed, you will reap ragweed; you will not reap corn.

The ultimate reward for what we have sown will be given to us when our appointed date comes to die and stand before God. If we are born-again and have repented of our sins and accepted the blood of Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins, then that is when we will receive REWARDS for our deeds. Instead of the whirlwind – chaos in this life and the Lake of Fire afterwards – we will be incredibly overwhelmed and amazed at what our deeds have earned for us!

So there is no such thing as KARMA…there are only the principles of the Word of God that God put into place to govern all of Creation.

The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.”  Psalm 18:20

“The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether…. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.” Psalm 19: 8, 9, 11

“So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.” Psalm 58:11

The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.” Proverbs 11:18

The New Testament is full of verses to show us how to obey God, follow Jesus and what to do to earn that huge reward in heaven!

As a matter of fact, the reward for obedience and righteousness is so great – in this life and in eternity – the Bible says we cannot fathom what God has prepared for His beloved obedient children!  “… Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

That’s what I am working for! How about you?
